She has worked in both general practice and emergency medicine. She has special interests in internal medicine, emergency surgery, and dentistry. Our Veterinary Technicians
Leah Janus LVT
Head Veterinary Technician/Practice Manager
Leah’s passion for animals began at a young age growing up on a small farm and also being involved in 4H. She was then accepted to a Vocational Agricultural High School in Massachusetts. From there, she obtained her Bachelors in Animal Science at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1999. After graduating from college, she moved to New Hampshire with her now husband Paul, in order for him to obtain his degree in Meteorology. Prior to joining us, she had worked with patients of all sizes at a small animal practice, a mixed animal practice, and an equine practice. In 2006, they moved to Maine and Leah began her employment here at LRAH, and she obtained her Maine veterinary technician license. In 2008, they purchased a home in Casco; a “fixer-upper” to consume their spare time. She enjoys exercising, running, hiking, and a variety of winter sports. Leah’s furry family consists of her two beloved kitties, Casco and Doppler.

Growing up I was so blessed to have a mom who nurtured my love of animals by allowing me to have many different pets. I graduated from University of Maine Augusta with a degree in Animal Medical Technology in 2000. I love my job as a veterinary technician and I can’t imagine doing anything else. Currently, my household consists of my son and 4 cats. My motto is that there is always room for one more! Jennifer has been a veterinary technician with Lake Region Animal Hospital since 2010.
Sara joined our practice full-time in May 2022 right after graduating with a Veterinary Technology degree from York Community College.
Sara has always been an animal lover and has many pets including a dog named Dexter, a horse named Romley, Winston the Sun Conure bird, and 3 turtles!
When she is not caring for her animals you can usually find her reading books, travelling, baking or watching movies. She is also very handy to have around since she has a great aptitude for fixing things!
Nick is a Veterinary Assistant that joined our staff in July 2021. Growing up he was the first to volunteer to help take care of a neighbor’s animals, from cats and dogs to sheep and lizards he loves them all! That love for animals eventually transitioned into the professional world as a kennel assistant and manager at local boarding facilities, finally finding a new love in veterinary care. If he isn't spending time caring for animals you will find him out on the water fishing, at home watching sports, or relaxing with some video games. Currently Nick has three dogs and a hedgehog at home, but there is always room for more! Just don’t tell his wife.
Winni grew up in Rhode Island and moved to Maine 9 years ago. She has always had an interest in animals whether that may be marine or four-legged. Winni has been here part time since 2022 while she is attending YCCC. When she's not at the clinic playing with your furry friends, you can find her drawing, hiking and listening to true crime podcasts.
Kenny grew up in Gorham, Maine and loved taking care of animals from a young age. During high school, he started volunteering at the Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals (MSSPA) and then worked there for a few years after graduation. At the MSSPA, he cared for rescued horses, and learned about large animal veterinary care. He completed his Vet Tech degree in 2023 and joined us as a full-time staff member in June 2023.
Outside of work, you can find him hiking, running, and spending time with family. He has a German Shepherd, a pygmy goat, 3 chickens, and 4 cats at home.
Our Front Desk Staff
My husband, Peter and I moved to Maine from Arizona 20 years ago with trailer in tow, 5 dogs, 6 cats and 2 horses. I never thought I would fall in love with Maine, but the people of Maine changed my mind very quickly.
I was lucky to land my position at Lake Region Animal Hospital where I joined an amazing group of co-workers. I may be a little slanted, but I do believe we have some of the finest clients an establishment such as ours could hope to have. It is an honor to get to know each and every one of them, as well as their beautiful 4-legged children.
Karen joined our team in March 2023. She resides in Windham with her boyfriend and their two recued fur babies; a deaf chihuahua named Huckleberry and very much the princess French bulldog Fiona. When not working she enjoys volunteering, photography and just about any outdoor activity.
Paige joined our team in February 2023. She loves getting to chat with all the clients while also giving love and affection to all the pets. She lives in Casco with her boyfriend and their dog, Tex.
When she isn’t working she enjoys painting, listening to music, and watching The Office.
Emily joined LRAH in 2021. She can't wait to meet all of your furry friends!
I am the most bestest boy! I sleep in the office all day while Mom (Dr Belliveau) works.
