About Lake Region Animal Hospital

Lake Region Animal Hospital was founded in 1974 by Dr. Douglas Griffin. In its early years, the practice cared for both large and small animals; however, as demand for companion animal care grew, the focus shifted exclusively to small animals. Dr. Barry Porter later joined Dr. Griffin, and together they built a respected, thriving practice known for both medical excellence and compassionate client care.

Over the years, the hospital expanded to better serve its patients and clients and now features a bright reception area, four exam rooms, a large treatment area, and a fully equipped surgical suite. Dr. Porter retired in 2010, followed by Dr. Griffin in 2019.  In November of 2019, ownership of the practice was transferred to Dr. Andrine Belliveau, who has been a part of the Lake Region Animal Hospital team since 2012.

In 2022, Lake Region Animal Hospital achieved AAHA accreditation, meeting rigorous standards in patient care, medical recordkeeping, and team training - an honor earned by fewer than 15% of animal hospitals in the United States.  We are proud to have served the Windham, Maine community and their pets for more than 50 years.​
